The Compass Center is looking for volunteers to serve as Community Ambassadors. This role involves representing The Compass Center at community events, fairs, and meetings to raise awareness and promote our services. 

Responsibilities: 

The Compass Center needs reliable volunteers to help sort and organize donations. As a Donation Sorting Volunteer, you will assist in ensuring that donated items are properly categorized and distributed to those in need. 

Responsibilities: 

Our resale boutique is vital as a source of income for our shelter, clothing for our residents, and resources in our community. Greet & interact with customers. Sort, hang and tag donated clothing and household items. Assist with cleaning and organizing. Build friendships and impact lives as you volunteer 

Help is needed to clean common areas, organize storage rooms, and assist with meal preparation. 

 Secure donated household items, assist with packing & loading, provide transportation.

Spend 3-4 hours hanging out with our Associates at our Community House.  This could be playing games, reading books, working on learning activities, etc.  

We celebrate the monthly birthdays for our associates by taking the group out to eat one time a month.  This cost approximately $200 to take our group of associates.  It would meet a BIG need to have a gift card to cover this cost each month.  

United Way is seeking enthusiastic volunteers to assist with various events throughout the year. As an Event Support Volunteer, you will play a key role in helping to organize, set up, and run community and fundraising events.

The Compass Center is looking for welcoming and organized individuals to volunteer at our reception desk. As a Reception Volunteer, you will be the first point of contact for visitors and clients, providing a friendly and professional greeting.

The Compass Center is seeking friendly and organized volunteers to help in our Resource Center. As a Resource Center Assistant, you will assist clients in accessing various resources, such as food pantries, clothing distribution, and hygiene supplies.

Seeking volunteer tutors for our Hall Campus location to work with students studying English as a Second Language or preparing to take their GED or HiSET exams, learning basic skills in literacy and math, and English as a Second Language learners. Three hours opportunities available any day, Monday - Thursday, either 9 a.m. - noon or 5 - 8 p.m. Work will be mostly one-on-one or in small groups to help students receive specialized tutoring to help them grasp concepts keeping them behind the rest of their classmates and progressing towards a measurable skill gain or graduation.

The Shine afterschool program is in need of snacks to fuel our eager learners. Many children arrive hungry from school, and we strive to provide them with nutritious options.

Some suggested snack donations include pretzels, Bugels, cheese strings, granola bars, fresh fruit, fruit cups, and more.

Your contribution will help keep our students energized and ready to shine!

We are fortunate to have a Giving Pantry for our residents at Melrose. Melrose residents can collect non-perishable food, books, and back-to-school items. 

Now we are looking for any small group or organization willing to donate non-perishable foods to our mini food pantry at Melrose.

We are ready to roll out our Senior Food Box Delivery Program! We need an additional 3-4 delivery drivers to "adopt" a route and deliver to selected households once a month. Must be able to lift up to 20lbs and be willing to Grow the Love with us!

Can be done publicly or virtually. We are in need of product to meet the growing need of the food in our five county service area. 

Neighborhoods, Businesses, Schools may all participate.

The Center of Hope is looking for an Office Clerk volunteer to help answer phones and other light office tasks. Contact us for more details on this rewarding opportunity. 

Boys & Girls Clubs of Lanier is in need of volunteers to assist with after school program activities on an ongoing basis. Program activities range from homework help and mentoring to art, physical activity, and other exciting educational enrichments.

All program volunteers must complete BGCL's volunteer enrollment process at https://www.boysgirlsclubs.com/get-involved/volunteer/. All program volunteers must undergo a criminal background check and complete mandated reporter training.

The Center of Hope Shelter is seeking your cooking skills. You can prepare and serve a meal for either breakfast or dinner to feed around 30-40 people. 

The Salvation Army Center of Hope is in need of a volunteer to help organize our food pantry. 

We are needing some volunteers to organize our clothes closet at the Center of Hope. 

By donating everyday items, you can make a difference in the lives of families experiencing homelessness or at risk of homelessness who are working hard to regain and maintain sustainable independence. In partnership with Wisdom Project 2030, 3 Giving Pantries and Libraries have been installed throughout the Gainesville Community. They are located at The Salvation Army, Mill Street Apartments and Downtown Drafts. The Giving Pantry and Library project offers a way to help to alleviate hunger and hardship in our community, through the distribution of food, personal items, cleaning supplies and books.

We need your help keeping our pantries stocked. We are in need of non-perishable food, hygiene supplies, books, etc. Donations can be dropped off at the United Way of Hall County office Monday-Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
