One of the ways we support the children in our care is by making sure they feel celebrated and loved—especially on birthdays, holidays, and other special milestones. We collect new toys to be used as gifts for these occasions, as well as for achievement rewards and moments when a little extra joy is needed.

What makes this especially meaningful is how we involve the mothers. Rather than giving gifts directly from Gateway, we allow moms to “shop” from our donated toy supply at no cost. This empowers them to choose something special for their child and give it as a personal gift—preserving the joy of giving and strengthening their connection during a difficult time.

Whether big or small, every new toy donation helps a mother feel proud and a child feel seen, loved, and valued.

When families and individuals arrive at Gateway, many do so with little notice—often bringing only the clothes on their backs. In those first few days of transition and healing, something as simple as clean laundry can make a world of difference.

To help meet this need, we provide on-site laundry services so clients don’t have to worry about finding or paying for a laundromat. With 8 commercial-grade washers and 12 dryers we’re able to offer clean bedding, towels, and clothing—all of which help restore comfort, dignity, and a sense of control during a time of upheaval.

We rely on laundry detergent pods for both client use and staff laundry operations. Pods are easier for clients to use, especially during stressful moments, and they help us avoid the maintenance issues caused by liquid detergents—ensuring our machines stay up and running for everyone who needs them.

Your donation of detergent pods directly supports survivors and their families by helping us create a clean, respectful, and functional environment.

When individuals and their children arrive at our shelter, they are leaving behind their homes and entering an unfamiliar place in search of safety. At Gateway, we work hard to ensure that what they walk into is more than just a room it’s a clean, comfortable, and welcoming space where healing can begin.

A big part of creating that environment is maintaining a high standard of cleanliness. Each room is thoroughly cleaned and prepared before a new resident arrives, and that means we go through a large amount of cleaning supplies throughout the year.

At this time, we are especially in need of general cleaning products (excluding Clorox-brand items). The most helpful donations include:
