United We Run is United Way of Hall County's annual 5k walk/run that benefits One Hall United Against Poverty initiatives. Our 2026 race will be held from 8am-12pm on Saturday, March 21, 2026, starting at Chicopee Baptist Church. Please let us know what capacity you would like to volunteer in when you sign up. We will need volunteers for:

Early packet pickup and registration on 4/18/2025 at United Way of Hall County from 8am-4pmPre-registration/packet pickup starting at 8am on race day Race course marshals directing runners in the right direction and cheering them on Water table attendants: filling water cups, handing them to runners, and picking up used cups (this can be a seated position)Race set up starting at 7:30am on race dayRace breakdown around 11:30 on race dayHand out awardsCheerleaders at the finish line

The Compass Center is looking for volunteers to serve as Community Ambassadors. This role involves representing The Compass Center at community events, fairs, and meetings to raise awareness and promote our services. 

Responsibilities: 

Attend community events on behalf of The Compass Center.Distribute brochures, flyers, and other promotional materials. Engage with community members and answer questions. Collect contact information for follow-up. Provide feedback on community interests and needs. 

The Compass Center needs reliable volunteers to help sort and organize donations. As a Donation Sorting Volunteer, you will assist in ensuring that donated items are properly categorized and distributed to those in need. 

Responsibilities: 

Sort and categorize donated items (e.g., clothing, food, household goods). Inspect items for quality and suitability. Organize items for easy access and distribution.Assist with packing and distributing items to clients. Maintain a clean and organized sorting area. 

United Way is seeking enthusiastic volunteers to assist with various events throughout the year. As an Event Support Volunteer, you will play a key role in helping to organize, set up, and run community and fundraising events. 

Responsibilities:

Assist with event setup and breakdown.Greet and direct event attendees. Provide information about United Way and its initiatives including One Hall and the Compass Center. Support staff with various tasks during the event. 

The Compass Center is looking for welcoming and organized individuals to volunteer at our reception desk. As a Reception Volunteer, you will be the first point of contact for visitors and clients, providing a friendly and professional greeting.

Responsibilities: 

Greet and welcome visitors and clients. Answer and direct phone calls.Provide basic information and assistance.Help with light clerical tasks, such as filing and data entry. Ensure the reception area is tidy and welcoming. 

The Compass Center is seeking friendly and organized volunteers to help in our Resource Center. As a Resource Center Assistant, you will assist clients in accessing various resources, such as food pantries, clothing distribution, and hygiene supplies. 

Responsibilities:

Assist clients by using computers and accessing online resources. Maintain a clean and organized Resource Center. Replenish educational materials and resource handouts. Provide basic information and answer client questions. Report any issue or needs to staff. 

In partnership with Wisdom Project 2030, 3 Giving Pantries and Libraries have been installed throughout the Gainesville Community. They are located at The Salvation Army, Mill Street Apartments and Downtown Drafts. The Giving Pantry and Library project offers a way to help to alleviate hunger and hardship in our community, through the distribution of food, personal items, cleaning supplies and books.

We need your help keeping our pantries stocked. We are in need of non-perishable food, hygiene supplies, books, etc. Donations can be dropped off at the United Way of Hall County office Monday-Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
